How to stop your dog from fighting at feeding time.
I have an older lab, she about 12 year old, and I have a younger not quite a year old dog that's mixed Shepard and pit. The younger dog would put both feet in the food dish when I fed them as if to say, no one eat until I eat. I started feeding them in separate bowls to stop the competition over the food. He has gotten to the point where he eats out of her bowl, but if she eats out of his bowl he start attacking her. How do you stop this behavior?

Feed the younger dog in a crate and let your older dog eat in peace. Crating while eating teaches the young dog that his bowl is all he gets.

It may be weeks to months to years before your young dog will be allowed to eat outside the crate with the other dog.

Feeding both dogs from one bowl will usually start a war in the dog world. Separate bowls in separte locations with a door between them is the way to go. Your pit appears to be the alpha and Lucky is right about this taking months to years to undo. Have you considerred obedience training for the younger dog, he might be more than a handful without training.

Ditto, separate locations, we have four and only two are in the same room at feeding time. None of them seem to mind and at chow time everyone simply goes to their spot to eat and waits patiently for their meal.

Just going to echo what has been said. Separate the dogs during feeding time. The newest additoin should be the one separated or crated.
