Off the wall bathroom exhaust question
I'm finishing my basement and had a question about installing an exhaust fan in the bathroom. Can I tie in the exhaust fan ducting into the vents from the bath fixtures, which will exit out the roof. Air and odors would exit out the roof and any moisture should flow down to the sewer lines under the floor? I understand that it should go out the rim joist to the outside but I was just curious.

Never mind, this wouldn't work because it would give sewer gas a direct way into my home. Duhhhh!!

Just for laughs. I saw a house last week that had the basement bathroom exhaust tied directly into the return ductwork of the forced air furnace. I guess they wanted everyone in the house to enjoy the aroma..

Hi, I just bought a house and the bathroom exhaust fan is broken. In replacing it, it occurs to me that it might not be vented to the outside. (I think it's vented to the attic only.) I have a very narrow attic (1.5 feet) and its not feasible to sqeeze in there to check. There is a pipe vent...

Bathroom Exhaust fans [ 1 Answers ]

Not sure if this is really a plumbing question but it has to be close. If I am building a bathroom in my basement and I am only putting in a whirlpool tub will I still need an exhaust fan? If so do I just run a vent pipe from the exhaust fan straight out the side of my house?
