    Signing Away parental rights in NYS
    Can you sign away parental rights to a child you have never had contact with since they were born over 8 years prior?

    If the other parent who has the child is remarried and the new partner wants to adopt, you may sign over rights to allow the adoption.

    You can not just merely sign over rights. They obviously have not used any of the rights, so is there fear that they will soon want to use them?
