    Copy of property abstract
    We are working on establishing power of attorney to help our aging mother. The lawyer asked us to bring in titles for her home. She cannot locate these. How do we obtain copies.

    Why does he want them? Having your mother give you POA is a fairly simple matter. I would question why.

    But you should get mom's paperwork in order. You can obtain copies of the abstracts from the county clerk or recorder of deeds.

    I will agree, there is no reason at all to have and provide copies of deeds to the attorney. It has nothing to do with Getting a power of attorney.

    But the deeds are filed at the court house,
