How can I get custody of my nephew and niece?
My sister was kicked out of her house recently and had to go to jail because she had a warrant for her arrest... now I found out she has another warrant from another state.. I have been taking care of my 8 month old niece and my nephew has been staying with his great aunt and his dad... well now the dad is accused of molesting his 8 year old daughter.so he is no longer taking care of my nephew. He is under investigation for sexual child abuse. I have had my niece for over a week and my sister will be in jail for for 5 weeks but she will have to serve her time in the other state... I would like to get custody of both children since both parents have no place to live and are unstable. What can I do to get custody? The father is very difficult to deal with.

You need to go to your local Family court and apply for emergency guardianship. Get that first, so you can legally provide for them.
Once you get guardianship, you can then apply for the more permanent status of custodian or you can adopt. |
