Is there a civil component to intimidation of a witness?
As I have stated, this pertains to law in WA. Intimidation of a witness I am a witness to theft. I have been repeatedly harassed by the perp's side to include social ostracizing (a very good friend who told me he avoids contact w/ me to avoid backlash from these folks) I have been slandered vilely in a public social media forum where people I work with read it. To say I have mental anguish is an understatement. I fear going to settings where folks who've read the social media stuff see me because I've had no chance to defend myself as I ignore it and don't respond, attempting both not to fan flames and also not subject myself to being accused of slander--even though what I'd say would be simply explaining what they have posted which are lies about me, but it seldom matters. It is repeatedly instigated for no purpose other than o harass me and drive me more or less out my job and out of social settings. I have had harassment charges attempted brought against me (pot calling the kettle black) which were finally dismissed for no probable cause, but that case is now on my record, isn't it? Perhaps I should have petitioned for my own before becoming the respondent in their petition. Too late now without looking like I'm retaliating. But I do indeed have an audience with the local prosecutor for all the evidence of intimidating a witness (myself and another witness, in fact). Still I want to know what I'll get out of it for all my trouble. Is there a civil aspect that would allow me to pursue monetary recovery of these social and mental damages and to a limited extent financial as I've had to retain a lawyer for my own protection?
