Roof making crackling sounds in cold
So all night I have been hearing what sounds like " house settling" from my roof/ceiling and couldn't figure out what it was. When I had the back door open it sounds like my shingles are crackling in the now -5 weather but I haven't noticed this before and we have had colder days though this winter has been ridiculoulsly mild for ND. These shingles were new this past summer after a hail storm the previous summer. I don't know if that is relevant but my question is, is there something wrong with my shingles? I can't tell in the dark and I wouldn't be certain anyways but it almost looks like some shingles are slightly raised, though like I said I could be wrong.... I will have to check in the daylight but is there a name for this? It would be covered by the people who did it ( as they had to come fix a problem before with the overhang/eaves situation) or at the very least insurance would have to cover repairs? I really am trying to move forward in the way on new homeowner repairs, I really don't need any more roadblocks. Any insight/answers greatly appreciated.

Don't think it's anything to worry about, at-5 I'd be creaking to. It's 19 now in Atlanta. You are most likely hearing contracting from the cold, particularly if the temp change is ssubstantial. This would be from shingles and other roof components. Even a very small contraction will cause wood framing and decking to shift a bit, making a popping and cracking sound. Don't worry and stay warm!
