    How to delete local backups on Lion
    I have stopped them using terminal I believe but my hard drive is full with 95GB in backups and I don't know how to delete them. Time machine is turned off.

    It is never a good idea to backup to your primary drive or to a drive mounted in your work station. Off site backup solutions like Carbonite offer the added advantage of being off site.
    Are the backups made by time machine? If so time machine will delete backups in order to continue making backups. A directly copied backup can be deleted by dragging it to the trash and emptying trash.
    If you are using other backup software especially incramental backup software consult the software vender about maling your backup smaller.
