Having trouble getting a '91 Chevy Truck started
I just bought a manual 5 speed truck from my grandfather, and I'm not shore what's wrong with it. I didn't write down all the informatin about the truck but it's a 1991 Chevy. It is possible an S10.
I know it has a dead battery, but even after hooking it up to a charger, or trying to jump it, it will get charge and it will hold charge, but it will not turn over.
I know how to start a manual truck, so I know that's not it. And I just put $10.00 worth of gas in it. I took off the filter and pored a little gas on the carberator which seems to help when it tries to crank. When I try to crank it, I hear a constant ticking sound that happens every second or so and it has only turnd over three times but it wouldn't do it enymore except tick.
I probably should also mention that it has been sitting for a little over a year now. If anyone has any information on what the problem could possibly be, please let me know because I need to get it running.
I personally think the carburetor is clogged or the battery isn't holding enough charge. I don't know if it's the starter though.

If the ticking sound is from the starter solenoid, it likely indicates the battery is bad. Take the battery to an auto parts store--most will test and charge them for free. You need to know it's absolutely good or you will waste a lot of time and/or money.
The fuel in the tank and carburetor has deteriorated. Old gas will get gummy and cause lots of problems, especially in the carburetor. Consider siphoning out the old gas, if you can't get it to run.
I suspect a lot of your problem is related to a bad battery.
By 1991, virtually all vehicles were fuel injected. It's hard to believe it has a carburetor, if it was made in 1991.

If you can't get it running, report back with the exact year, make, model and engine. I'm sure we can help.

Since I believe that the truck is fuel injected (throttle body injection or TBI), turn the ignition switch to ON, until the fuel pump stops; then, turn the ignition switch OFF. Repeat this process two more times. This will fully pressurize the fuel rail. On the final time, turn the ignition switch to START. The engine should start. Try this after you get a good battery.
Once you get the truck to start, replace all of the fluids. Change the engine oil and filter, transmission fluid and filter, power steering fluid, coolant (50/50 antifreeze and distilled water), and brake fluid. If you do this, you will know where you stand. Learn how to do it yourself and record the date, mileage, and work performed in a maintenance log.

OK I will try to do all of this but I need your apenion on the best way to clean out the older gas out of the carbratore if there is still some in it. Someone elts said pore a little alcohol into the carberatore and it should clean it out. To me that sounds like a stupid thing to do because it seams like it would do more damege then helping. To me thoue I suggested some gas cleaner, but which type of gas cleaner would be best, how much should I get and should I put it directly into the carberatore or into the tank. Maybe I should split it like 20%in the carberatore and 80% in the tank so it can flush the hole sestum. To me its better to ask the queshtions before doing something stupid so I don't have to uses more money then what I want to uses lol.I have the information on the truck now it is a 1991 chev pickup and it's a 06 cyl. And the Odometer reads 260314.9 miles. Lol this shold help a lot on some advice.

I don't believe it has a carburetor. Instead, it has a throttle body injection system, which looks like a carburetor. Therefore, pouring carburetor cleaner won't work and may cause damage.
Plug your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) into a GM VIN decoder online--it will tell you everything about your truck. You will see it has fuel injection.

OK I changed the battery and it is trying to turn over I got a friend to help fined out what's all rong with it and we got it to run when we pored gas on the injecters and it turnd over and dies when the fuel runns out he said the injecters may be cloged up with old gas and it will not spray out gas so it will not stay running unless you want to keep suplying gas to the injecters to he told me to eather clean them out and see if they work if not it could be electrical problums to the injectors and buy new ones or just buy new ones I'm going to probably just buy new ones so this could be all the problums now I hope so if not I will get back to you .
If I do buy new ones what would be the cost of them?

I wouldn't buy new injectors, yet--that is usually a waste of money. Do you have plenty of fresh gas in the gas tank? Did you fully pressurize the fuel system by turning the ignition switch to ON, waiting until the fuel pump stopped running, and then turning it OFF? Hopefully, you did this several times.
Did your granddad park the truck a year ago, because it stopped running? If so, it may not have a fuel problem. Instead, it may have an ignition system problem, where the Ignition Control Module (ICM) is bad. It may be firing but not when the ECM wants it to. Since this affects timing, it may now only run when fuel is poured down the TBI. This is easy to replace.
