I;m only 17 and my son will be 2 soon and I've been going threw a lot of legal trouble and I need to get my life straightened out before I can give my son a good life. Is there anyway I could sign temp. Custody over to my parents who are more than willing to take care of him?

The father has been in jail for over a year now for aggravated battery on a child( my son). He is facing 6-30 years in prision.

I would think long and hard before doing this and only do it with the help of a well qualified attorney. This is something very serious that can become very permanent if not done correctly to protect your rights and those of your son. If you do this wrong, you could lose rights to your son until he turns 18. Be VERY careful and get an attorney to write up any agreement that you sign with your parents. You can give temporary GUARDIANSHIP to your parents. While Custody and guardianship are very similar, there are some subtle differences. Generally guardianship is less permanent.

Make sure the guardianship agreement is revocable at any time. It would be better if it was drawn up by an attorney. However, the main reason to give guardianship is so your parents can approve medical care for your child. If you will be around, that may not be necessary. It might even be better to not do it so you can qualify for financial aid.

Agree, you can not just give them custody, but guardianship is normally the first step. IT needs to be limited or temp where there is a time frame for it to end.
After that of course over time they could try to take custody and not let you take the child back.
