    My Surround Sound
I have zero idea how to hook up my surround sound and was hoping I could get pointed in the right direction.

    This is what I have:

    SHARP 47" HDTV Model: LC-46D85U
    DirecTv HDDVR Model: HR24-500
    Playstation 3
    Sony Receiver Model: SRT-DH710
Insignia Speakers (5) and Subwoofer Model: NS-HT51

I have the speakers installed and wired into the receiver. The TV is hooked up to the Playstation 3 already, but that is all I could figure out. Any help is much appreciated!

    Method 1:
    - HDMI from DirecTV to audio receiver.
    - HDMI from PS3 to audio receiver.
    - HDMI from audio receiver to TV.

    Method 2:
    - HDMI from DirecTV to TV.
    - Fiber optic from DirecTV to audio receiver.
    - HDMI from PS3 to TV.
    - Fiber optic from PS3 to audio receiver.

Method 1 is the easiest to use; you will only need to change inputs on your audio receiver while your TV stays on the same input. This method can mess with your greyscale a small bit (so small that most people can't tell). This will also provide the highest quality audio for when you are watching Blu-ray movies on your PS3.

Method 2 will provide you the best picture quality possible to your TV. However this method sacrifices some audio quality when watching Blu-ray movies on the PS3. It also requires you to change inputs on both your TV and audio receiver. But, if you ever want the option to use the TV speakers, this method is also the way to go.

There is a third method, which uses Audio Return Channel (ARC) over HDMI. I'm not sure if that model TV supports it, and I'm not sure if that would be any different, quality wise, than either of the other two methods. I haven't read up too much on ARC.
