Theft under 5000 and obstruction of police officer?
My brother was caught shoplifting "a whole chicken" from price smart foods.
After he walked out of the store, the security came and took him to the back until the cops came.
Upon cops arrival, my brother were asked for his name, address, and personal info. But because this was the first ever time it happened, he lied to the police about his personal info. He was really scared.
The cops released him with a promise to appear for theft under $5000 and obstructing a police officer?
This was the first time he ever did something like this and he was sent a letter requesting him to pay amount of $300 to price smart foods which he already paid in full.
So what will happen when he goes to the court?

A fine from the court, ( the 300 dollars he paid was a civil penalty to the store) So most likely another 300 fine, and probation for about a year.

If they don't know his name, there won't BE court.

I would assume they finally got his real name.

He somehow got the letter (apparently). I wonder if he used the name of a sibling, got the letter addressed to the sibling - and now he has to go to Court and PROVE his identity. I see additional charges being filed.

    He stole a whole chicken?
