    Small cyst
    Respected Dr

I am 26 yrs old female, got married 10 months before and I couldn't conceive till now. I have 30-31 day cycle. After 3 months of my marriage, I visited a Gynecologist and was diagnosed with few small cyst. The doctor said, I neednot worry as they are too small and within 3 months of the medicines she had prescribed, I will get pregnant. She had asked me to take Actos (sugar controlling tablet) and Hyponidd for 3 months. But still I couldn't get pregnant.

I have read a lot on internet and gathered some information on how to be pregnant and the reasons behind not concieving. I have read about ovulation and I have felt in some months I had ovulated on 17th or 18th day. When my period gets over, from 8th or 9th day, I get white discharge. It is heavy, transparent in colour mostly from 12th to 15th day and in next 2-3 days, I find white colour discharge, which can stretch long.

My question is, if I am ovulating, why couldn't I conceive? Do I need to do some other tests. I have hair on upper lips, 1 or 2 long hair around nipples, and 4-5 long hair on my abdomen. I have read, these can be due to cyst. I would like to know, can a person ovulate if she has cyst. Please reply. Sorry to take uour time.

    Thanking You
    May Almighty God bless u.

I don't think a doctor would ever say 'within 3 months you will get pregnant;' more likely you could get pregnant. Statistically that isn't even the highest % time, it's closer to a year. Trust your doctor or consult another one. You can't really know when you ovulate without temperature taking and so on. You can ovulate with cysts but that's also for your doctor to examine and say. A few long hairs and upper lip hairs are common in many, many women regardless of cysts or any condition. (We all tend to get more as we age and female hormones are reduced.)

Plus, you don't know if getting pregnant might be a matter of the sperm. But tests get very expensive and couples usually try for a few years first.

    Hi Zaraa,

Are you diabetic? Do you monitor your glucose level? Did your doctor mention a condition called PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome)? It appears that may be what she is treating you for. Cysts and facial hair are common symptoms of PCOS and the medications she prescribed can be used for diabetes and PCOS. If you do have PCOS, it can make it more challenging to become pregnant. Are you still taking the medications?

If you are not diabetic, and she did not discuss PCOS with you, I would ask her about it and about the use of the medications.

Most couples will become pregnant within a year of actively trying. This may include checking for signs of possible ovulation. You can use temping and charting, as joypulv had mentioned. Some women also try ovulation predictor kits as well as what you have started doing, watching for changes in cervical mucus. A starting place would be counting back 12-16 days from when your next period is likely to start. About a week before that time, start checking for a possible indication that your body is preparing for ovulation.

If possible, having sexual relations every two days throughout your cycle may also be helpful as it can be easy to be off on the timing if you focus just on when you think that you might be ovulating.

Now that you have some more ideas on how to determine when you might be ovulating, try some of those for several more months. If no success after several more months, see your doctor again to talk about possible testing for both you and your husband.
