    Ultrasound Shadow?
I am 35 weeks pregnant and I had my 18 week ultrasound done and everything was normal. Then I had my 28 week ultrasound which from showed that their might be water on her brain. The doctor said its from the way she is postitioned and they wanted to do a repeat just to be safe. I went back a week later for the repeat and everything was fine it was a shadow. I went in for my normal appoitment this week but saw a different doctor in the office and she wants to send me to a specialist for another ultrasound just to be safe. This happened 2mths ago and now I am due in 4 weeks and another doctor wants to send me for another ultrasound. What should I do I am told by one that everything is fine and another one is telling me I need to go see a specialist.

    Hi wgary... welcome to AMHD,

It can be quite confusing when you have two different opinions within the same practice, but it happens sometimes. It really is up to you what you want to do. You could contact the original doctor and discuss the concerns of the most recent one. It may just be that the second doctor is more comfortable of erring on the side of caution. Sometimes it comes down to what a particular doctor has seen previously in their experience.

You could gauge it by how they presented their thoughts on it. Did the first one seem very confident in their diagnosis and did the second one present it as though "things are likely fine, but let's just double check to be sure"? Or did you get a different take on the situation from either of them? What sort of scans are they able to perform in office? Would a specialist be necessary or could you just have a repeat done as before.

I would probably contact the first doctor and simply say that you are confused as to what would be best. If another scan would give you some definite peace of mind, it might very well be worth having it done.
