My boyfriend broke up with me 2 days ago. I read his text to his friend bragging about sleeping with a woman he met at an online dating site. I don't usually snoop on his phone, but I did this time because he was acting very strange and guilty these past few days (especially when he went MIA to me on the weekend). I tried to talk to him about that, but somehow, he seems like he's avoiding the conversation.

It was only 5 days after I read that text that he agreed to talk. He denied it, of course. He said he just made it up it for fun and that he never cheated on me. He got so mad about my snooping, complained how I was becoming needy and clingy on him, and that he wanted us to take a break. He said he wants us to break up for a few weeks and see where it goes. He said we could still be friends, could still go out and talk, but just not intimate anymore. He also told me that I should go out with friends too or maybe date some other guys -- try to get a life.

According to him it's turning him off how clingy I've been. He assured that he's not closing his doors for us in the future. We have been together for more than a year. We have a big age gap (he's 47, I'm 25) but we get along really well. I really want him back but I don't know how I should react. I used to see him at his work everyday because it's just close to where I live.

Since the break up, I try not to past that area. It has just been 2 days though, but I miss him a lot. He said he will call on the first day but he didn't. If he ever calls, shall I answer it? I'm scared that if I ignore his call, I might lose the chance of getting him back.

Help.

From what you say, it seems he has moved on... I know it sounds harsh. Do not call him. Or text him. I know its extremely tempting, because I have done these mistakes in past relationships, but they have done me no good.

If he calls, do not take the call, in case you cannot resist then keep the conversation as short as possible.

Find your favorite activities to do in the mean time, talk to your friends, cry on someone's shoulder, get all the TLC you can from your friends.

Wow that is pretty straight forward. He said no already, so just let him be. It is time for you to heal.

You need to go no contact, you already showed that you don't trust him, without trust there is no relationship. It is time to move on, with such an age difference is possible that you two are in very different places in life, and what you might feel for him may not be reciprocated in the same way. Regardless, he has told you what he wants, respect his decision, and start moving on to do your own thing.
