Ordor in form my gas furnace I have smell this same ordor in my car?
We just moved in to our home in September of 2011 and from what I understand our house was closed up for about 3/4 years. But the thing is our furnace is giving off a ordor and I have smelled this same ordor in my car when it inclosed. What could that be. My husband has problems with smelling things and his taste buds come and go. Please some one what could it be.thank you

The smell is the byproduct of burnt fuel. Burnt fuel contains carbine monoxide, which is deadly. Shut the furnace off now, and I mean NOW. Do not attempt to use the unit until you have a professional tech into evaluate the system. Use portable electric heaters to keep the house warm until you can have a service man in. This is nothing to take lightly. Your health and LIFE could very well be in danger if you continue to use the furnace. Just not worth the chance. Get it looked at ASAP. Please do let us know what they find.
