Can I Claim Child Who Lived 1 Day & Is Burial A Deductable Like Medical Expenses?
I had a child July 12th 2011 who passed away the same day. It costs me $3,300.00 for burial & stone though luckily Medicaid covered Hospital bills. Are burial costs a deduction for one? Secondly can I file for earned income tax credit even though my son lived for only 1 day? He does have a birth certificate, socail security card, etc..

    So sorry for your loss.
You cannot claim burial costs, but you can claim your son as a dependent.

I too am sorry for your loss.

In addition to claiming your deceased as a dependent, you may also qualify for the Earned Income Credit and the Child Tax Credit if your income meets the crtierion.

But how much would that child tax credit be, the barest minimum, the child only lives one day and I am sorry for the circumstances too. but this question is so insensitive when you think about it.

It's like cashing in on a life that never got started.
