    100 amp split.
    I'm wondering if a 100 amp service can be split into two meters giving each duplex 50 amps?

    No, for other than a single family dwelling, the minimum rating shall be 60 amps.

    ^5 check local code for single family dwelling minimum 60 is really low won't carry load of hot water heater and lights. Add a dryer and a furnace and you're in the dark... :0/

    First, the minimum service for a single family dwelling is 100 amps. For all other dwellings, the minimum service is 60 amps.

    The key word is "Minimum". You can exceed the "Minimum" but you cannot go below that threshold.

    The size of the required service is determined by a load calculation, not by the minimum size.
