    I need to know are there alternatives to my problem?
    I just found out I'm between 7 to 11 weeks and I have been having a lot of trouble keeping my food down and sleeping. I found that marajuana actually helps, to my surprise. I don't take it over board or anything but I want to make sure I get the proper rest and nutrition for my baby... I went as far as trying to sleep and eat a whole day since the beginning of my pregnancy but no luck. I was up all night and only ate two small meals that day... The next day I tried smoking a little before my meals and before my naps/ sleep and I was fine.. What shoul I do?

    Hi mommy2b2012... welcome to AMHD,

    Safer alternatives to help you would be some of the following:

    * increase your vitamin B6
    * have something like toast or crackers in the morning before you even get out of bed
    * small amounts of foods throughout the day instead of actual meals
    * ginger in any form... natural ginger on some foods, such as toast... flat ginger ale
    * preggie pops (can be found in many maternity stores and online
    * motion sickness bands for the accupressure
    * accupuncture
    * fresh air
    * sour candy

    Marijuana is considered a class C drug... has shown negative effects in animal studies and there are not many studies available for pregnant women. (not too many people would volunteer to see what it may or may not do to their unborn child) Some studies have shown a possible effect on baby's growth and development.

    Since there are safer means of achieving the desired results, best to forgo the marijuana. Keep in mind, that for most women, the morning sickness often subsides in the second trimester. If it continues to be a problem, your midwife or doctor can suggest other options.
