My water pump kicks on and off every 4 minutes I replaced the pressure switch how do I ck if there's proper air pressure in the holding tank

Pressure tank is not likely to be your problem. More likely you have a leak somewhere. Can you shut off water to the house? If so, then do that and see if the problem continues. If it does not, then there is a leak "upstream" to the house. If the problem does continue, then suspect a checkvalve or footvalve leaking, or possibly even the wellpipe.

Are we talking galvanized pressure tank or blue bladder tank? Follow jlisrnbes advice and try to isolate the problem. Let us know what you find. Good luck. Tom

I did shut the water and the problem still occurred is it possible that I have the NEW pressure switch adjusted wrg I bought a 30/50 but have it set more like 40/60

I don't think the switch is the problem. More than likely your checkvalve is leaking. That allows water to flow from the pressure tank back down to the well every time the pump turns off.

Is your pump above ground or in the well?

Do you know how to locate your checkvalve?

My pump is above ground but I don't think there's a ck valve I don't see one anyway all I see is 2 pipes coming out of the ground straight to the pump

Will it ruin anything with it kicking on and off like that

You either have a check valve located on the suction line or a foot valve located at the well point.

This puts a strain on the starting coils. When you shut the pump off does the gage fall to zero? If it does then you have a faulty foot/check valve. Note, If you have a open foot valve you could install a check valve above ground. Good luck, Tom
