    Immigration Question. Resident Mom and American Citizen Dad.
    "I'm 19 and my brother is 21. We came here at age 13 and 15. My mom recently got her green card. She's married to an American Citizen. My question is.... Can my brother and I get a green card through my mom or my stepdad?" We talked to a lawyer and he said my mom can't ask for us until she becomes a resident and neither can my step dad.

    No. Marital status has nothing to do with changing anyone's status in the US.
