    Sewage ejector pump issues
    Hey,

I appreciate the advice on this site, it has been very informative.

I have been having issues with my sewage ejector pump. It is in the crawl space and pumps all the waste from the house to the city sewage lines and has been working fine for 5 years.

On a day with heavy rain, I heard the pumps motor rev up and then trip the circuit breaker. Ever since then, if I flip the circuit switch back on, the pump revs up and trips the breaker.

I've read online that this could be a clog, or something blocking the pumps rotor but the electricity/plumbing associates at the local hardware store think I should trouble shoot electrical issues 1st.

Any advice on this issue is appreciated. Would it be worth it to try a flat sewer snake 1st? Thanks

I would try another temporary pump first. Could be a clog or could be a failing breaker or other short. You could rent a ejector for about $25 a day, you probably really need some immiedate temporay help right about now. A clog usually does not trip a breaker and something in the turbine would have the motor seized, no rev up at all. A good new pump is going to run about $300 new and that's no top of the line either
