Can I pass my EtG test?
I drank 2 16oz mikes hard lemonaides (8%) and 3 shots of vodka yesterday between 3 and 9pm. I have an EtG test tomorrow at 3pm, will I pass? Healthy 44yo woman, 130lb, normal metabolism! Thanks

About a week ago you drank 1 Mike's and tested 63 hours later. That was pretty easy to figure because of the time and amount consumed.

    Did you get that result?

Now you have consumed 32 oz of 8% and 4-1/2 oz of 40% being about 6 standard drinks (US). From last drink, in this instance, is 66 hours? Or 3 more hours than from the first episode?

This instance isn't nearly so clear cut as the former. Nor is your rationale for pushing the outer limits!

I know... I'm very stupid. Had no idea I was going to be tested tomorrow though, or I wouldn't have pushed it.but I am pushing it anyway, just by drinking. Having a hard time giving it up, for some reason. Anyway, I still haven't heard about last weeks test, I'm guessing I passed. This time it will only have been 43 hours since last drink (of which I detailed). Thanks for your time

I'm not quite sure how you came up with the 43 hours but let's use that from time of last drink. Considering the amount consumed (6 drinks) that means you needed around 7 hours to eliminate the alcohol to BAC=0. Subtract that from the 43 and there is 36 hours elimination time for EtG.

That is probably not sufficient. (Hoiseth, 2008) Although, in another test, subjects dosed to .08 BAC, were clear at 32 hours. (Tox News) Even using the shortest interval you are still in danger as your BAC could have been .02-.03 higher.

I found your statement interesting "having a hard time giving it up, for some reason." Why do you think that is?

If your testing is court related you could be facing some real sour consequences but seem to be daring them to catch you.

Thanks for your response. I am an alcoholic for sure... that is why it's hard to give up... because I can't seem to stop, even though I'm facing big time sour consequences from the courts if I'm caught. I got out of today's ua test, so when I take one on Wed afternoon I will be clean as a whistle (my last drink being on Saturday night) I need to stop, and I am for sure not drinking today or tomorrow. One day at a time right?

    Carrie,

People with alcohol problems respond to very different interventions. It seems that the punitive approach isn't working for you.

On the other hand you seem to recognize that you have a problem, alcoholism if you prefer and you are at an age when this type of realization is best acted upon.

Here is an organization that specializes in female alcoholism. Male and Female alcoholism follows a very different trajectory, age of onset, development sequence. Might be worth a try:

Women for Sobriety (WFS). A non-profit organization dedicated to helping women overcome alcoholism and other addictions. Founded in 1976 it is the first national self-help program for women alcoholics.

Wikipedia also has a description of the organization that is informative Women For Sobriety - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

There are many resources now available with the recognition that a one-size-fits-all approach simply doesn't work with the wide spectrum of alcohol use disorders. Check this out. If it doesn't fit just check back and we'll find another.

Very helpful information! You are sincerely a very caring, nice person. I appreciate your help, and I hopefully won't be asking if I'm going to pass or fail any future EtG tests!
    Thanks again,
    Carrie
