Is there anything legal for rape now?
I live in Florida, when I was 14 yrs old (1983) I babysat for my best friends brother and his wife he was 23. They had 2 children. While I was babysitting one night he returned and got fresh I said no he forced me down and raped me. I told my best friend she didn't believe me and after that I just clammed up. Now with a daughter that is a teenager I feel like is there something I can do now? To right a wrong that has been here to long.

    Hello c:

I don't know if the statute of limitations has run out, or even if there is one where you live.. The only way to know is to go to the cops.

I see nothing legally you can do, You can tell his wife, and other people if you want to. The SOL to take him to court has passed.

It does appear the SOL has expired. Current law would be 7 years for you. But the law is not retro active so the law at the time it happened would apply and it has been lengthened not shortened.

However, you could pursue a civil case. The problem here is showing you were materially harmed. And that would be difficult.
