Hampton bay covington model - fan works but does not respond to remote control commands

1st wear n tear to a remote control is the terminals to the batteries. That's the 1st thing needed to be checked. Rusts n corrosion formed at these terminals are the culprits. Try cleaning these terminals with erasers or better with a fine sandpaper.keep on doing it until its cleaned n shiny. Then try the remote using new set of batteries.otherwise nothing else could be done other than a new remote.
