    Divorce joint custody rules?
If seekig Joint custody will the courts automatically choose the child's main residencce I.e. Fathers house or mothers house. And what restriction s on moving out of state or out of city are their. What I'm asking is are there any geographical restrictions on the main residence ( be it father or mother) if they wanted to move out of state or out of city . Is there a certain radius that they have to be in like 60 miles of each oter or what uf any .Thanks Gary

Most of what your asking is going to be covered by the local court system. Not knowing the State this is taking place in its hard to say. In some states it is an automatic entry for others you have to make requests.

What state are you in and is one of the parties planning a move after the court settles the issues?

There is no automatic anything. In most cases a court rules on the best interests of the child and makes their decision based on what the court thinks that is.

Allowing a move will be based on visitation. If a move will impact on the NCP's ability to do visitation it may not be allowed.

You and the other party in joint custody, work out the details.
For many joint custody requires them to even live in the same school district so the child can go to the same school. Or at worst live close enough to transport the child to that school.

But there are no "standards" each couple has to work out their own requirements. So the mother and father need to work all of this out and have it put into their agreement
