Pull chains, wall switch, remote or combination of these? Did you install the remote that came with the fan?

Wall switch and remote. We did install the remote that came with the fan but also called and got a new one. Installed that and still no luck.

I have the same problem... ordered new remote, no luck. Stuck in slow speed and both remotes are unresponsive. I installed a wall switch to be able to shut the damn thing off, but after reading all the other similar issues, regret the purchase of a Hampton Bay product.

Initial poster -kiss1113 you may have had a switch loop circuit and connecting directly to the fan breaks that circuit. The wall switch becomes inoperative. If the wall switch has a black and white wire on it you most likely have a switch loop.

Recheck your wiring instructions.. Its sounds like the fan was wired wrong during installation. Meaning the fan is wired directly to the power supply by passing all switch..

Bought the Aleutians 68 for its looks and size. Hung it in great room on 24 foot ceiling (painters had to bring in scaffolding to paint and I took advantage of that and had them hang it while they were up there:)
We were in and out of the house so much, that we did not realize for a while that it had a mind of its own! It would shut off, change speeds, and change direction randomly. We pushed off doing anything about it as the house and family provided plenty of other uses of our time and energy. We were able to use it and make it work for short spells when we needed it, but a year after buying it, it finally stopped working altogether. Now I have a non working/responding fan looming 24 feet overhead. Can not imagine it is going to be cheap renting scaffolding to pull it down:(

It is highly likely someone else close to your home is using the same frequency. Your hand held remote and the receiver in the canopy have small dip switches markers I/O. If you move all switches to I it will likely start to obey only you.

I think this is our problem... we don't want to use the remote. We have a switch on the wall, so how do we wire it to get around the loop switch?

How do you know it is a loop circuit? What color wires are on the switch? How many wires are in the switch box?
