How long does it take for a pork bone to pass through a dog?
After a dog eats a bone, if anything serious is going to happen, how long will it take to know if something is wrong?

You will usually know with in the first 24 hours if there is a blockage. But things like stomach lining tears can take a few days to present their problems.

If your dog is gagging or retching or vomiting, or not able to have a bowel movement, take him to the vet ASAP.

Feeding your dog bread and in extreme cases soaked cotton balls will help cushion the bones and help prevent them from tearing the lining.

Dog swallowed pork bone [ 4 Answers ]

My 2 lab/beagle (who is probably part goat as he eats anything that he can get his paws on) swallowed a cooked pork bone. I am giving him a lot of water as well as the cotton ball treatment, but I am wondering if I should give him anything to soften his stool or accelerate the pooping?
