This is not a question I am asking. I am sure that many people are aware of the PC Doctor scam. I have received 2 phone calls since the last 3 days. I refuse to buy into their scam.

The person (from India) states that my computer has been contaminated and that they want you to go on their website so they can help fix the problem. The thing of it is the company that makes my computer has PC Doctor installed right into my computer. She insisted I downloaded material off the internet that caused the contamination. Funny thing of that is is I do not download anything off the internet. Then she changed her story by saying that in my area their have been computers contaminated by this same virus and mine was one of them. They clain to be from "Windows" or they will get real technical and say "Microsoft". They will install the software and payment for that software is used bu credit card. Those charges range from 35.00 to 469.00. They can then capture sensitive data such as online banking user names and passwords, bank information, identity information etc.. Microsoft NEVER contacts their customers. If you have been a victim of this scam in Canada, contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501. They have targeted people in Australlia, USA and Canada. Unfortunately, there have been many victims of this scam. The worse thing is the elderly are easy targets. Let's try our hardest to stop these people and make our communties a safer place to live!

That's nice, but the best advice is to HANG UP on any phone call that is not from someone you know. I don't know why you listened to the whole spiel. Now you are on their hit list no matter what you said, because they count the time you stayed on the phone. Get caller ID and don't even pick it up or hang up the instant they say who they are.

This "PC Doctor" malware can infest a computer without your permission if one surfs the 'net. So I don't know why the scammers needed to actually call the OP. If they do, one should ask oneself how the caller knows that the caller's computer is "infected". Then, of course, hang up. :rolleyes:

#1 I do have caller ID. #2 The Onatrio Police Department has advised all victims of this scam to do as I listed on my post. They call until you pick up with an unknown #. The advice I gave was help those who were victims of this scam.
