    Puppy whining and whimpering
I live at a rural area, so my parents naturally won't let any pets sleep in the house because we have a huge backyard. Every night my puppy will scratch the netting door at the front porch and whines. I've read in the internet about getting a crate and put it in the room, but my parents won't let me. So what is the best way to make my puppy feels secure and didn't feel too lonely sleeping at the yard?

She will never feel secure or not lonely sleeping alone in the yard. She is a puppy, and puppies like to be with their pack (brothers and sisters). It's really sad that your parents feel the need for a pet, but won't allow it in the home. I also live in a rural area, on 2 acres, but none of my dogs are made to sleep outdoors. They are a part of my family and they are treated the same way. I know you have little say, but if you did loads of research showing them how unhealthy it is for the pup to be alone, do you think they would allow the dog to sleep indoors?
