    Metal blocking my bathtub drainage?
So I was pulling hair out of my drain earlier today, and a metal flap type thing came up with the hair (I have no idea how) anyway, it's now blocking my water from draining out of my bathtub and I have tried a screwdriver and a hammer to move it but failed, how can I fix this problem?

I have no idea what it might be. Was the metal silver like steel or tin or was it yellow like brass?
Your tub drain's a simple affair ,(see image) so let me show you how to open it up to remove it. I have put up a cutaway of the tub shoe and drain. You may have to purchase a tub tool, (see image) to remove the drain lip to access the tub shoe. Unscrew the drain using the tub tool and take a coathanger with a hook on it to pull the hair and metal piece out. Before you reinstall the drain lip you must take plumbers putty or Silicon Jel and form a ring under the drain lip. This is your drain seal. Tighten the drain lip down, wipe off any excess seal and you should be back in business. Good luck, Tom
