Hi raymond and welcome, It's never safe to by-pass any safety device, the limiter is there to stop the dryer from overheating and causing a fire. There not expensive or hard to replace so go that route. Good luck

My dryer heater element heats for 15 seconds then cuts off. The temp never gets above 150. Based on your experience is the thermal limiter bad or the thermostat?

Hi raymond, I'd first pull the dryer out from the wall and unhook the vent and run a cycle, sounds like your vent needs cleaned.

As far as changing parts, it's a simple check with a volt/ohm meter to check if a limiter or stat is bad, waste of money to just buy parts to try. Post back with anymore questions. Good luck
