My dog just had puppies and one teat seems to be clogged what could it be?
Its swollen but not red looking like the swelling of mastitis, but when squeezed the milk that comes out looks like condensed milk... helllppp!

Sounds like she may have mastitis.
Mastitis is basically an infection of the nipple. There are several ways to treat it, the easiest being doing warm compresses on the teat several time a day. Opinions are divided on whether pups should feed from the teat, some say rotate puppies on the teat and allow them to feed, others say simply keep the pups away and express the milk yourself, up to you. I would be interested to hear our resident vets opinion on this one. I personally rotate the pups on the affected teat. Also book an appointment with your vet to get her on a course of antibiotics to clear it up as soon as possible. |
