After working for other people my whole life, I am looking at buying a established private driving school business.
We are in the process of doing a LOI. Problem is we don't know what to value the company at. How can we come up with a value before we see the books.

Very little value, their Rep if you get to keep their name, will they sign a non compete so they will not start a new school in same area.

Are you buying their cars, their building ( or do they rent and you have to assume their lease)

What is their profit ? Remember you don't get repeat business, so what is the marketing plan?

What is stopping you just from opening your own, not buying one. Except for the items they own, there is not a lot of other value.

With the sale of the company I will receive a non-compete, 18 cars an office building and the name. Not to mention a contract with the city public school system for one more year. All of the above are free and clear.
