I am looking for a YA book I read a while back. The details of the story are foggy, but this is what I remember:

A girl finds out that her therapist step-father created a medication that has cause a few of his patients to kill themselves. When he finds out she knows about what has happened, he has two men kidnap her on her walk home from school.

It was published in or before 2007. I believe it is the first or one of the first books this author has published.
