    How far can an air conditioning compressor be away from the house?
    We have a house in the country and do not want to hear or see the hvac compressor. We would like to place it about 150 feet away from the house. Is that possible?

    Possible but not practical. You will need a larger power feed and lose cooling capacity since the high pressure side pipe will heat up from the ambient temp and you will have pressure loss due to friction. If you are fortunate to have a sloped away yard, some people dig out a recess and place the compressor there and put shrubs around it.
