How to evict family members from my home?
My daughter was in a rehab for 7 months, I took care of her daughter while she was away, she completed her program and has no place to live, I invite her to stay at my home and tell her to save money so that she and her daughter can move out. We go to the local DPW and I have her sign in their presents that she will pay me $300.00 per month for the rental of 2 bedrooms in my home. She applies for assistance with the local utility companies and gets approved, doesn't pay the rent I asked for and tells me that the assistance she receives is the payment. 3 days ago her boyfriend comes over for a visit, and somehow his mail is coming to my home, without my knowledge, I ask him about this and he took it upon himself to use my address as his because he has no place to go.

I moved this from Family Law because the relationship of your tenants have no bearing.

Your daughter is your tenant, if she is not paying the agreed upon rent, then you give her a pay or quit notice. Or if you want her to move, you give her a 30 day vacate notice. Either way if she doesn't move by the deadline, then you go to court for an eviction order.

As for the boyfriend, if he has only been there a few days, tell him that he is visiting and not a resident and that you are going to give his mail back to the post office marked that he doesn't live there.

Good advice, this pay or quit notice, can this be something that I can type and print out on my own?

Yes. Local laws will specify the term of the pay or quit. Generally between 3 and 10 days. But its simple:

    To <insert name of tenant>

Your rent was due on <insert date>. You currently owe <insert $ amount> including late fees. You have <insert # of days> to bring your account up to date or vacate the premises at <insert address>.

Failure to do either, will result in filing for an eviction order.
