About to get higher dosage of Clomid; what if it's not an ovulation problem?
My doctor has had me on Clomid for two cycles now, and on the second cycle, during my ultrasound on day 12, she saw two good eggs.

I still didn't end up pregnant. My doctor now wants to up the dose of Clomid from 50mg to 100mg and try insemination. Before I dish out a lot of money I don't have, what if the problem isn't ovulation, but getting the egg to implant?

    Thank you.

    Hi druryb... welcome to AMHD,

Has your doctored checked your hormone levels as well? Progesterone is responsible for preparing the uterine lining to receive a fertilized egg and maintaining an early pregnancy. Often that will be looked at as well.

It is not uncommon for some women to require a few rounds of Clomid, often with a change in dosage.

Yes she has checked my hormone levels and said they were good and this last time they were checked on day 21 they were at what she thought were pregnancy levels. I have been trying to call her back to ask what she meant by that. So do you think I should just do the clomid again this cycle, and wait on the insemanation?
    Thanks druryb

It is very individual. Even doctors will vary in their recommendations as to when to start other options either along with the Clomid or in place of it. Some will try other meds after several rounds of the Clomid as well.

Are you seeing your gyn or a RE?

Personally, I would opt for a bit more time with the Clomid for a few reasons. It is not unusual for it to take a few rounds, she is increasing the dosage, which may be what does the trick, and the cost of insemination.

Thank you! I think I will just take the increased dose and wait another cycle. I am so confused on her comment of how my levels were at pregnancy levels so what happened?

She may have meant that the level was high enough to support a pregnancy should it occur. Check with her to be sure.

Good luck... hope the next round is the one!
