How to bleed a shallow well pump
I just installed a new shallow well pump and primed it.it's suppose to kick on at 20psi and of at 40psi.
It goes up to 20 and the gage just bounces around there. I was told to get pressure I may need to bleed the air out.
Any suggestions on how to bleed the pump and lines?

First off. A little information. When the pump is shut down and the pressure bled off,( by opening a cold water tap) what is the PSI charge on your bladder tank?
    How deep is your well?
Did you replace the new pump with then same size as the old one? Why did you replace the old pump?
I was told to get pressure I may need to bleed the air out.
Any suggestions on how to bleed the pump and lines?
Every time you open a cold water tap and let it run you bleed the system of air.
Let me know about the other stuff. Tom

I just got this place and it has been vacant for 3 years I couldn't get water to the inside so was told I needed a new bladder tank there is about a 19 psi charge on that.I was then told the pump may be froze after all that time and it looked rusty so I just bought a new pump which is a 3/4 hp the old one was 1/2hp.The new one primes and is drawing water but can't get pressure up to 40psi

What's the top reading when the gage bounces? The fact that the gage fluctuates up and down tells me that it may be getting pressure and then losing it. It does hold prime doesn't it? About this time I'd be looking at the check valve. It's been setting idle as long as your old pump. Let me know what you find. Good luck, Tom
