Anyone know where I can get the replacement part for a Sears wall heater? Part#6CO6 It's a wall heater that's about 5ft tall, mounted on the wall that vents out to a chimney. Yes I could get a new heater, but this old thing heats up a 800 sqft apt beautifully needing no electricity... strictly gas. One place wanted $1500 to replace it but all I need is that coupler thingie I think it's called... the part that ignites the pilot light.

Are you talking about a thermocouple, little thing with a probe that stays heated by the pilot? If so it is a very common almost universal part found in most hardawre stores. Furnace Pilot Light (fix) replace $10 thermocouple - watch this on your iphone too! - YouTube Now just to be clear, a thermocouple does not light a pilot, a falme or spark ignitor does that but the thermocouple keeps the gas valve open as long as it senses heat. Its job is to close the gas valve completely if there is no pilot.

Well... it's this big piece that connects to the gas, connected to the themostat dial thingie and includes the pipe that leads to the pilot light. I called Sears with the only number I saw #36C06 Type 101, but they said serial #'s look like 000.000000. I'm still looking. Someone said that a Honeywell V800 gas valve would work on most instances, but I don't know if it's the same thing. BTW.. thanks so much for responding.

Sounds a bit like you aren't real familiar with working on gas appliances. I'd suggest calling 3 other repair people for their estimate. Sears does have a fleet of repair people so maybe include them. Air Conditioning and Heating System Preventive Maintenance Services - SearsHomeServices.com

Actually I'm researching this part for the plumber/electrician who will be doing the work. We can't seem to get a good serial number on the part. He has the terminology, I don't. THINGIE is my word of choice as you can see. I've called Sears, I've called the leading heating/cooling co. in town. One has no idea w/o the serial# and the second wanted to replace the whole thing which is unnecessary and too expensive. This piece connects to the pilot light. It's the piece that has the knob to turn the pilot on, connects to the thermostat sensor & connects to the gas line. It looks similar to my water heater unit. I wanted to see if the Honeywell V800 part would work if that's it.

"the knob to turn the pilot on" that's the gas valve. What is wrong with it and how/who diagnosed this as the problem?
