Where can I buy books at discount price, or wholesale price?
I do not want to always drive to library as gas becomes more and more expensive. If I can get books just one or two dollars, I would definitely want to buy it instead of borrowing from library.

Amazon has millions of books available at very low prices, even as little as a penny (plus shipping charges, of course). Check for a title and then look below the title/author information for used ones being sold by independent sellers.

Our local library has a $.25 room, everything is a quarter. There must be 500 books in there. Garage sale books are typically 3-4 for $1. I buy my books at Garage sales and then donate them to the library for a tax write off.

He doesn't want to unnecessarily use gasoline and drive to the library, he said.

Powell's Books is an online used and rare book dealer.

No, he said "I do not want to always drive". I gave him a possibility of "buying in bulk" if his library has that option like ours does. Buying books online at Amazon can cost $3.99 postage and gas is $3.20 in Atlanta now. I typically buy 10 books for $2.50

Of course, after working in public libraries for 30 years, I agree that the sale books at a library are a great bargain. Another of course is that the OP can check out a bagful of books and renew them by phone or computer. Many libraries allow multiple renewals now, as long as there's no waiting list for a book.

Yes, there are many options. We are in a regional system. I can get a book 60 miles away and return it 1 mile away.

Same here. And my library can bring in a faraway book for me and I return it to my library. The book travels, not me.

And my card is good at most public libraries in Illinois and also at college/university libraries in the state.
