    auto private sale
Hi all ! I've a couple question need help ? About private auto sale.
I just help my friend sold his a car about 8days ago. He lives in Florida and of course, the car register at Florida too. 2 weeks before, he leaves country for his duty... he already sign the title and the bill of sale.He ask me, if
whoever will buy this car ; all I have to do is give the title bill of sale to them (buyer)and ask them to fill there name date down on open spots.

Day 1 ) Buyer call me and wants to comes check out test drive the car. After all he and his wife likes it very
much. He wents home of course, with his wife.
Day 4 ) Four days late he call and offer the price with me and asking CARFAX.I told him(buyer) before my friend
leaves the country all he hangs to me is CAR, KEYS,TITLE & BILL OF SALE I don't have the CARFAX.Then the
(buyer)saids, if I don't have the CARFAX he will deduct $60 off the agree price, than I call my friend
from another country explain the situation, he OK with it. *** DEAL IS DONE ***
With my friend agreement, I took the $cash deposit into my account to pay off the amount he still owned
me in the pass then we even out.
Day 12) Eight days later, buyer calls me ,stated that he went out of town and the car broke down because,he
just do little bit over 85mph. And he wants the $$money back or I've to pay the tow part labor for to fix
the car for him.If not he will SUE me & with a lot intimidate. Notes: tow, parts labor price = the price
we sold the car to hem.
Days 13)I make another long distance call and explain the situation with my friend, he told me he not be back
to county(usa) until his mission is complete. May be another 6 months.
He told me all private sale are "AS IS" and told me just ignore the buyer's call.
But on the Bill Of Sale my friend did not put the words "AS IS"

AM I INVOLVE IN THE MATTER... PLEASE, HELP, HELP,HELP.

    ASAP.. GOB BLESS YOU ALL.

The disclaimer doesn't need to be written on the bill of sale. Ignore the buyer' call.

Ignore the calls, it would have been better to list "as is" but there also was no warranty listed or implied. The buyer had the chance to have the car checked by a mechanic.
Plus he drove it for over a week.

Iwould not even talk to the buyer again, but if you must, tell him no there will be no refund, the sale was as is, and any of his issues is with the seller not you.

Thanks a lot for the advice... I feel a lot better now.
But, the buyer just call me again said that he will fix the car and keep it.
And he ask, my person info. Or a copy of my driver licence, and SS#
So, he can register the car. I just said no to him and sorry for inconvenience.
    And hang up.

After all about few hrs later buyer keep call and call every 15min.
Please,help.. do I need to disconnect my personal phone.
    (I been used this phone# since 1999 )

    Thanks for the help/advice.
    God Bless You All.

Tell him that you were acting as an intermediary for the car owner. Once the sale was complete, you are out of the picture and have nothing more to do with it. If he doesn't stop calling you will file a complaint against him for harassment.

There is absolutely no reason for the buyer to need to know the SS number for either you or the owner, so ignore those requests. As long as the title was properly signed over by the previous owner (your friend), including his name and address and the selling price, that's all that's needed for the new owner to register the car in his name.
