I want to replace our old brick chimney.
What are my options for taking an old brick chimney down to the roof line and doing something different? I want a safe but inexpensive replacement for a 100 year old chimney on a rental property. I am replacing the old metal roof with a new metal roof and want to update the chimney. Can use chimney pipe, the metal insulated stuff, with a cap over the old brick opening?

What will you be venting out of the chimney? Wood burning? Gas burning? If nothing, you could close the whole thing off and install non vented gas logs. Outside the house you don't need double wall pipe, single wall will do, lots of old houses are converted that way.
