Never knowing what will happen
I went of b.c in March.. And have been trying to conceive since April. But my cycle is not on a normal track. I've been 41 days, 36 days and 37 days the last 3 months. Not I'm on day 37 but took two tests, a strip and a regular test both negative. My obgyn says there is nothing wrong with my ovaries so I really don't know what to do. And my obgyn says that 45 days is normal. I don't know if I should go back or what to do.

45 days can be normal for some women, but it is considerably longer than the norm. It would also cut down on the opportunities to conceive simply because there would be fewer ovulations occurring in a year's time.
I know that it seems like a long time without success, but it is important to keep in mind that it can sometimes take quite a bit of time. Most couples will become pregnant within a year of trying, but some will take a bit longer and that can be perfectly normal.
Generally you will ovulate about 12-16 days before the next period is due, but with irregular cycles you will have to go with a different starting place. Given your numbers, you may want to concentrate most of your efforts from days 18-30 (counting from the first day of your period). It would be wise to start trying several days sooner and continue a few days after as well. Of course, if you can have sex every other day throughout each cycle, timing won't be a concern.
Keep in mind that timing is only part of it, however, hence why there is only about a 20-25% chance of conceiving each month and why it takes many couples awhile before pregnancy is achieved.
Usually your doctor won't begin the initial fertility testing until you have been trying for at least a year... after six months if you are in your mid-30's or older. Both partners should have testing done if there has been no success.
What kinds of things have you tried so far to determine when you might be most fertile?

I use a ovualtion test and they are pretty accurate. I also look for the first sign of the mucus that comes. It just makes no sense since my first was conceived within 7 months of going of b.c.

I use an ovulation test and they always come up positive. I also look for the signs of the mucus. It still makes no sense considering my son was conceived within 7 months of being off b.c. at I was 19 then. I am only 24.

You're not that far off from how long it was with your first. Again, it is hard to see that period show up when you are really hoping to be pregnant, I know, but give it some more time.
If after several more months you don't have success, speak to your doctor again about the possibility of testing just to rule out any concerns.
Fingers crossed it's not much longer.

Sorry for the two replies. My obgyn had my ovaries and utuerus checked out and everything checks out. Still it concerns me why my cycles are off.

Did your OB do bloodwork to determine hormone levels?

J_9 I don't think so. She just had my ovaries checked out. She said after a few months if I wasn't on a track that she would do something else. If I don't get it this week or next, I am going to go back. And if I still don't get helped, I am changing doctors.

I understand your concerns at your age. Just wanted to make sure you weren't older.
Is your husband the father of your first child?
As Doula has stated, it can take the average healthy couple up to a year or more to conceive. You seem to be doing all of the right things, this pregnancy may just take longer to happen.

No he is not the father of my first. I was really hoping that it wouldn't take a year, because by that time I am going to be really frustrated. Like I said, if I don't get my period within the next week I am going back to the obgyn. Then if I don't get any further help, I am going to look into another one.

Most doctor's will not interfere until a year has passed. There is a chance also that your husband may not be able to assist in conception.

I doubt it, but I am going to have him checked out at some point soon.
