I haven't really told him anything about how I feel. We've been friends since the 7th grade, Freshman now. And I somehow want to tak our best-friend status to the next level. But, I'm extremely shy and afraid of being rejected. So I thought, maybe, just maybe, I could use his birthday to my advantage. He likes video games, but I don't want to get him something he may already have. He also loves to smell just right -Another reason I love him so- So I was thinking colonge? Any opinions? Thanks!

You can not "buy" affection of another person. You do know that if you try to move it to the next step ( will address that in a moment). This takes talking and sharing how you feel.

Next there is no "next step" best friends often just stay best friends. Nothing wrong with that. But then it also can mean that if you take it to "another level" that if it latter breaks up, you also lose a best friend. A choice that will need to be considered

Well since your best friends you should just get him something he likes cologne would be good but maybe a couple different so that it would be a little more and seem more thoughtful, which it would be. Get him some of his favorite.

Secondly you can move from the best friend status but it is finicky and hard I had the same problem but I was on the receiving end just ease into it tell him how you feel and see if he likes you back if not just move from there and take it a day at a time :)
