    How far can a toilet be moved from vent stack without creating a problem ?

    Hi TRW

    It really depends on what state you live in.

    In some states toilets on a 4" drain line can be up to 10 feet from a vent and in other states it is 8 feet. If the pipe is 3" some states want no more than 8 feet from the vent stack but some states won't allow more than 6 feet.

    Closer is always better!

    In Ohio it is 10' for 3" and 12' for 4". Best thing is check your local plumbing code.
