    Credit Cards in collection; can I open up a new bank account?
    I have just recently had my credit cards put into collection by my bank, can I open up a new checking account at another bank and not have the collection company go after my funds.

    No... they can go after ANY account you open anyplace.

    Pay it... before they garnish your wages, which might be their next step.
