Hyundai Getz 2007 cranks but doesn't start, intermittantly
My wife's getz has started playing up. You jump in and it can fire straight away, or you can turn the key and it will wind over and not start, even when cranked for 5 to 10sec. You can repeat for up to 10 times and eventually it starts. This happens when its hot or cold. When running, everything is normal, no engine light, enine runs up to redline with no miss. When its playing up there is no spark and plugs are dry. Fuel pump can be heard running, no idea of pressure. Car has done 140K with full service history and no other issues until now. Perhaps it knows the last service was the end of warranty.. lol.

    I just replaced the CAS.
    Any thoughts

    Thanks
    Steve.

Check for codes. I would focus on the Crankshaft Position Sensor and the Camshaft Position Sensor.

Thanks mate. Should I see a check engine light if codes were present, or not always. Thinking of the cam sensor next. Ive arranged for an obd2 reader, can I see the cam and crank pulses with this. I might try with jumper leads as well to simulate the higher running voltage, just odd it runs perfectly when it does start

Normally, the CEL will come on if there's a major problem with either sensor; i.e. hard code stored in the ECM. Still, there may be a "soft" code that hasn't yet triggered the CEL. It takes a scan tool, not a code reader, to see pulses.

Update. I couldn't get the odb reader to work so I booked the car into dealer. Dealer service note: "Found code in system for key reader failed removed & replaced key reader assy erased code and checked operation". Its been a week now and no more problems.
