How do I get formal visitation to see my grandson?
My son is in prison ,my granson in foster care, the mother of the child I don't have a address and I know her by pictures and phone .I called the case worker and she said I must ask permission to the mother of the child, but I do not know her where abouts.I believe that a person who use drugs enters a program and could be rehab and change for better if the persons decide to change in other to get her child back,I'm a woman I don't want to remove her child from her taking custody but I want to participate in my grand child life and be there for him,I want to see him visitation while my son does his sentence in prison .do I have to file for custudy of the child?

Please don't ask a new question at the bottom of someone else's thread. I started to read the first few posts in this thread until I realized they were all several years old. Fortunately, I was able to skip to the end, to find your post. As I expected, there are significant differences between your situation and that of the original poster.

Anyway, if the child is in foster care, and your son, although in prison, retains parental rights, you should be able to see the child as a proxy for your son. So, yes, I suggest that you see an attorney about filing for custody.

If your grandson is in foster care, it is likely that his mother doesn't presently have custody. Or perhaps the authorities don't know where she is, which would explain the caseworker's refusal to tell you.

Thread has been moved to a place of its own. Please watch the dates.
