    Meningocele on CT Scan?
That's pretty much what my CT scan results say. I am waiting on my dr appointment to find out what this means for me. If anyone has any idea what that means please let me know! I was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation Type 1 May 2010. I received decompression surgery in June 2010. Then they had to go back in and relieve a fluid buildup in July. After each operation I got a case of meningitis. I'm not sure if any of this is relevant to my current CT scan. This is what they wrote:

"THE PATIENT HAS HAD PRIOR OCCIPITAL CRANIECTOMY. THERE IS A 2 CM FLUID
COLLECTION IN THE CRANIECTOMY DEFECT THAT APPEARS CONTIGUOUS WITH THE
CSF SPACE, LIKELY REPRESENTING A SMALL MENINGOCELE. THE BRAIN IS
    OTHERWISE UNREMARKABLE."

Is this something that may require surgery again? I'm pretty nervous about going under yet again. If anyone has any input please share

From your question you seems understand the report. It say that you developed a small 2cm big meningocele due to remove a piece of skull bone in occipital area for decompressive reason.Without support of this piece bone the meningle bulging out a small sac but under this sac the brain tissue show no damage. This result is one part of the complication of decompresion surgery and hardly to avoid.Need more surgery or not it depend,I am not a neurosurgean, just tell what I think. If this small meningocele not get bigger and no brain damage there can wait.If the previous surgery got good result for the chiari def.then no needed. But sorry to say,Chiari def. adult onset type can be treat but can not cure.
